How it all started...
Wooden Knots Collective came to life in March 2020, at the height of the COVID pandemic. At the time, I was a stay‑at‑home mom, unable to secure full‑time work—but not the kind of person who thrives sitting still. I’ve always had a creative side, and I needed an outlet that allowed me to stay busy, contribute to my family, and pour my time into something meaningful.
The business began exactly where the name suggests: wooden home décor signs. Creating with my hands, working with natural materials, and crafting pieces meant to make a house feel like home. However, as the business grew, the realities of increased lumber prices and rising shipping costs made it clear that wooden décor wasn’t sustainable long‑term.
Instead of giving up, I shifted gears. I discovered leather jewelry after being inspired by Joanna Gaines and the beautiful leather petal earrings she often wore. I remember thinking, I can make those. And sure enough—I could. For the entirety of 2020, leather was the only jewelry material I worked with.
While leather opened the door to a new chapter, it also came with boundaries. Colors, textures, and thickness were largely predetermined. Over time, I found myself craving more creative freedom.
That search led me to high‑quality polymer clay in 2021. Polymer clay changed everything. The colors, textures, shapes, and designs became limitless—allowing creativity to fully take the lead. It gave me complete control over the artistic process while still honoring the handmade, intentional core of the brand.
Today, Wooden Knots Collective offers both leather and polymer clay jewelry, blending our roots with our evolution. While our name may no longer describe one specific material, it reflects something deeper: handcrafted pieces, tied together by intention, creativity, and resilience.
